Leonie brings extensive experience to her role as a Behaviour Support Practitioner. Based in Cairns, she also travels to Cape York communities and the Torres Strait Islands.
She holds a BA in Psychology and Criminology, which she completed while raising her children. With a background in mental health, dementia, and trauma, Leonie has a keen interest in Public Health and a passion for helping people live their best lives.
Leonie is a proud mother and grandmother. Outside of work, she has a lifelong love affair with salt water and enjoys photographing marine life. She values the evidence-based framework of Behaviour Support, but her personal experiences with parenting, Autism, and ADHD enrich her practice.
Leonie believes that the expert in a person’s life is the person living it. As a practitioner, she brings evidence, skills, and ideas to support them. She is dedicated to reducing restrictive practices and celebrating small victories towards a better life.
